Rudy van Leeuwen joined Delta Lloyd Life Insurance in 1991 after taking European Studies at the University of Amsterdam. He worked for Delta Lloyd for around 13 years in different roles in the Netherlands and abroad.

In 2004 Rudy switched to the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM), where he was initially focused on the implementation of the Financial Services Law. After first being responsible for the supervision of financial advisors and then asset managers, since 2016 Rudy has been responsible for the supervision of the insurance sector.
