Mahlatse Mahlase

Content Hub Manager, South African Reserve Bank

Mahlatse Mahlase works in the communications division of the South African Reserve Bank as the content hub manager. She has held leadership positions at some of Africa’s most prominent news platforms, including serving as the editor-in-chief of Eyewitness News, the Political Editor of News24, and various roles at SABC News, including deputy political editor. Mahlatse is an advocate for journalism and is an associate member of the South African Editors Forum (SANEF). She has been elected twice as its chairperson and then as secretary general. She is pursuing a Master’s in strategic communications at the University of Johannesburg. Additionally, she is the 2024 fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative (ALI).
