Danita Pattemore joined the World Bank in March 2023 as a Senior Financial Sector Specialist in the Long-Term Finance Team, FCI Global Practice. Danita’s area of expertise is insurance. In this role, she is responsible for country-level engagement to facilitate further development of the insurance sector. Danita is also active in supporting country-level transition to and development of risk-based capital frameworks and supervision. In addition, she supports development and implementation of National Financial Inclusion Strategies and designs Technical Assistance programs covering a wide range of insurance issues, including supervisory capacity, climate risk, and policyholder protection schemes. Danita is also an insurance assessor for the Financial Sector Assessment Programs conducted by the IMF and World Bank.
Previously, Danita was the Deputy Head of Capital and Solvency at the International Association of Insurance Supervisors (IAIS). In this role, she was the project manager for the development of the global risk-based Insurance Capital Standard (ICS) and provided management oversight to various IAIS committees and sub-committees. Prior to that, she led the team responsible for developing ICS version 2.0 for the monitoring period and managed the successful transition of the ICS from field testing to the five-year monitoring period.
Prior to joining the IAIS, Danita was an actuary and Senior Analyst at the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada, where she focused primarily on the development of domestic regulatory guidance for life insurance companies.
Danita is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a Fellow of the Canadian Institute of Actuaries. She holds a BSc. degree in Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science from McGill University, as well as a BA (with distinction), specialising in Actuarial Mathematics, from Concordia University.
