Bongiwe Mncube

Group Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead Swiss Re  and COO, Swiss Re Africa

Bongiwe is the Group Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Lead for Swiss Re, since July 2023. She leads and oversees the strategic execution of the group wide DEI strategy, focused on increasing representation across underrepresented groups, such as women and ethnic minorities; ensuring equitable people practices that enable access for all people and steering an inclusive work culture globally across Swiss Re.

Bongiwe has an extensive background in human capital management, handling strategic business initiatives such as acquisitions, mergers, organisational redesigns and cultural transformation. This has been in varied industries including broadcast media, banking, insurance and across geographies.

Of recent, Bongiwe’s remit has expanded to also include her role as Chief Operations Officer for Swiss Re Africa operations, overseeing governance functions including risk management, compliance, legal and corporate real estate. In her personal capacity, Bongiwe spends much time working with the youth, giving a voice for underrepresented groups and supporting community outreach initiatives.

Bongiwe holds a Master’s degree in Industrial/Organisational Psychology from the University of Witwatersrand.
